Challenge

The constraint

Noordveld had a confirmed retail listing conditional on passing a 100-wash durability protocol. Their previous apparel manufacturer failed the submission twice — bonded seams separated at the hem and the fabric lost stretch recovery — pushing the launch out by a full season and putting the listing itself in doubt.

Approach

What we did

We rebuilt the specification rather than the garment. Three performance knits were trialled and assessed for stretch recovery after repeated extension, bonding tape and press temperature were validated on the selected fabric instead of a generic setting, and flatlock seams replaced bonding where the stress test showed bonding would not hold. We then ran the full 100-wash protocol in-house on pre-production samples before releasing bulk. Testing added eleven days to the schedule and removed the risk of a third failed submission.

Result

What it delivered

The line cleared the retailer durability protocol on first submission. Stretch recovery remained inside specification after 100 wash cycles, no seam failures were recorded, and the listing went live in the original season window. Noordveld has since moved two further activewear ranges into production with us.
